It stored high cultural values. Regional literature preservation necessary to broad our horizons on the literature and culture of the local community concerned and will also enrich our sight on the literary and cultural treasures of Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the efforts to preserve cultural values ??in literature is by transliteration and translation on regional languages (oral) literature. Translation mentioned as a transfer process that aims to convert written text in the source language into an equivalent target language text. Translation requires syntactic, systematic, and pragmatic understanding and processing of source language analysis. Translating regional literature into Indonesian can be seen as an intercultural and interregional dialogue. Regional literature has function as one of the device to embody people who has Indonesian insight.<br><br>In 2021, the Translation Team of Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province carried out some activities. They were selecting, translating, and compiling the Regional Language-Indonesian Folklore Book.<br><br>This activities is aimed to collect and publish 3 translation products of folk tales in regional language and Indonesian languages. Besides, ??for library documentation and public dissemination goals. In addition, the publications are used to enrich the reading materials in order to support the National Literacy Movement. Practically, the selection and translation activity are opened to public in East Kalimantan Province and North Kalimantan Province.<br><br>The capturing of bilingual folklore began with tracking source text data in 2 districts which is chosen based on the foremost information that they have written folklore scripts in regional languages, namely Paser Regency in East Kalimantan Province and Tarakan City in North Kalimantan Province. After tracing the data in those both places, the Team did not find any folklore written in the regional language. In Paser, the Team received a published bilingual story book (Indonesian and regional language) of competition result of Departmen of Education and Culture of Paser. In Tarakan, the Team obtained the Bulungan dictionary and an anthology of Tidung oral stories in Indonesian language.<br><br>Based on the data tracking results, Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province conducted a folk tales selection in regional languages ??and their translations into Indonesian language. As the result, the selection succeeded in determining 31 folklore scripts in regional languages and Indonesian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those thirty-one stories were folk tales that developed verbally arround the people of East Kalimantan Province and North Kalimantan Province. Thus, all the stories were compiled into 4 books. The division of the preparation of the story into 4 books based on the level of closeness of the language kinship. The four books were in (1) Kutai, (2) Berau and Tidung, (3) Dayak and Paser, and (4) Banjar (Samarinda) languages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, the expert group and professional service (KKLP) of Translation of Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province undertook to edit, align the Indonesian language, and compose the story. After those processes, the ready-to-print copy is sent to the printing house.
