As a part of the Merdeka Belajar Program Episode 17, it aimed to preserve the regional languages, including Kenyah in East Kalimantan, to prevent their extinction caused by speakers decreases. Furthermore, it addressed monitoring and evaluating the mentors&#8217; and teachers&#8217; efforts when revitalizing the Kenyah language at Muara Badak. Besides, to know the students\u2019 readiness to participate in FTBI provincial level in November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Monitoring and evaluation activities were held at SD Negeri 014 Muara Badak and SMP Negeri 8 Muara Badak. They were happy and welcomed the team that directly monitored and evaluated the implementation of the Regional Language Revitalization even though it was in limited circumstances.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Head of SD Negeri 014 Muara Badak, in his remarks, supported the activity and expected that his students would be able to compete in the FTBI fest to advance regional languages, especially Kenyah language.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Monitoring Team watched the poems, fairy tales, songs, and speeches in the Kenyah language performed by elementary and junior high school students. The students performed well but they need to improve in terms of expression and appreciation. The monitoring showed that the teachers and students have shared their knowledge on revitalization but is not been optimal. There are obstacles that the Kenyah language is not included yet in the local content in schools and budgeting support is still limited. However, the teachers and trainers keep trying to train elementary and junior high school students to continue learning the Kenyah language via poetry, speeches, fairy tales, short stories, stand-up comedy, and so on. They are ready to participate at the FTBI provincial level so that regional languages remain sustainable.
