Tenggarong, August 20, 2026 — The quality of healthcare services is determined not only by clinical excellence but also by the clarity, precision, and friendliness of public communication delivered to the community. Driven by this commitment, Aji Muhammad Parikesit Regional General Hospital (RSUD), in collaboration with the Agency of Health of Kutai Kartanegara Regency, held a Training on Indonesian Language Proficiency Improvement (PKBI) for Public Service and Social Media on August 13–14, 2026. The event was attended by 80 participants from RSUD A.M. Parikesit and the Agency of Health, featuring expert trainers from the Regional Language Center in East Kalimantan, Ali Kusno and Abd. Rahman.
This strategic initiative, aimed at boosting public satisfaction, was officially opened by the Head of Agency of Health of Kutai Kartanegara Regency, Ismi Mufiddah, S.K.M., M.P.H. In her opening remarks, Ismi commended RSUD A.M. Parikesit’s initiative to enhance the communication competencies of healthcare personnel. She emphasized that language proficiency is a vital tool in delivering transparent, easily understood, and accountable healthcare services. “This training is a tangible implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between Agency Agency for Language Development and Cultivation and Government of Kutai Kartanegara Regency, as well as the realization of the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) among RSUD A.M. Parikesit, Agency of Health of Kutai Kartanegara, and Regional language Center in East Kalimantan,” Ismi stated.
To ensure the service transformation is effectively implemented, participants received comprehensive materials throughout the two-day event. On the first day, the training focused on reinforcing language standards for official correspondence and legal documents. Participants learned to apply the 5th edition of the Indonesian Spelling System (EYD V), construct effective sentences, and format standard paragraphs, which included direct evaluations of the agency’s existing publications. On the second day, the focus shifted to accelerating the creation of informational documents and health education content for social media using Artificial Intelligence (AI). Participants also simulated the drafting of official documents and mastered crisis communication protocols to ensure that medical information and emergency service details are conveyed to the public quickly, accurately, and in an educational manner.
During his session, Abd. Rahman emphasized that institutions must ensure the language used in their documents is accurate, appropriate, and professional. “An institution’s documents reflect the professionalism of the organization that produces them,” he explained.
Regarding language use in public services, Ali Kusno highlighted that public complaints about healthcare should be viewed as valuable feedback and an opportunity for self-improvement. “We greatly appreciate the concrete steps taken through this activity. The collective commitment shown by the leadership of Agency of Health of Kutai Kartanegara and RSUD A.M. Parikesit to enhance the language proficiency of their managerial and technical teams serves as a best practice for other agencies in East Kalimantan,” Ali noted.
This commitment to elevating healthcare service quality was reaffirmed by Director of RSUD A.M. Parikesit, Dr. Mauritz Silalahi, Sp.P.(K.), M.Kes.(MARS), during the closing ceremony. He expressed his hope that the knowledge and communication skills acquired would be immediately applied in daily operations, both at RSUD A.M. Parikesit and at other technical health units across Kutai Kartanegara. Dr. Mauritz also emphasized that the training would continue in subsequent phases, extending to other service units within the hospital. Ultimately, RSUD A.M. Parikesit aims to ensure that all its healthcare units uphold public communication standards that are excellent, professional, and patient-centric. (ak)
