Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province has determined the four best scripts as the winners of the Bilingual Children’s Story Translation Competition 2022 on Thursday, 23 June 2022. The scripts consist of thematic stories and folk tales in Kutai and Indonesian language. Three judges from academics and cultural practitioners were involved. They assessed accuracy, acceptability, and flexibility of the scripts. The scripts is selected in accordance with the purpose of education on conveying good moral values for children and not leads for offending SARA.
This competition has been started since April 2022. The participants came from the communities, teachers, civil servants, to novice writers. It aimed to provide reading materials for children that contain elements of local culture. Besides, it is hoped to raise children awareness in appreciating the cultural diversity around them.
