Samarinda, September 23, 2026 — Regional Language Center in East Kalimantan convened a Regional Language Commission Session (SKBD) and guidance sessions on the compilation of Tidung–Indonesian and Basap–Indonesian dictionaries on September 15–16, 2026. Held at the Language Center’s meeting room, the event featured presentations by Rina Kusmiarsih, S.Pd., and Dzien Nuen Almisri, S.Hum., both from Center for Language and Literature Development and Preservation under Agency for Language Development and Cultivation.
The SKBD session and dictionary compilation guidance marked the final stage in the effort to enrich and compile regional language dictionaries. The initiative to incorporate regional vocabulary into Comprehensive Indonesian Dictionary (KBBI) began with an Abai language vocabulary inventory on May 6–7, 2026, followed by a vocabulary workshop on August 10–11, 2026. Meanwhile, the guidance sessions for the Tidung–Indonesian and Basap–Indonesian dictionaries represent the third phase of the regional dictionary compilation program. The Tidung–Indonesian dictionary project commenced with data collection on February 11–12, 2026, and a results workshop on June 23–24, 2026. Similarly, the Basap–Indonesian dictionary project began with data collection on April 22–23, 2026, followed by a results workshop on July 8–9, 2026.
These sessions aim to review the preceding workshop outcomes and provide constructive feedback. The activities produced two key outputs, namely (1) a regional language vocabulary inventory containing lemma/headwords, complete with pronunciation, word class, and definitions, formatted for submission to the KBBI, and (2) validated dictionary macrostructure and microstructure data that ready for compilation into a comprehensive regional language dictionary.
