Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province held The Trial of Indonesian Proficiency Test (UKBI) Adaptif Merdeka Test Items at Language Laboratory of Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province. It did for two days, on Monday and Tuesday, 15  and 16 August 2022. A total of ten participants, such as teachers, elementary/junior/high school students, employees, civil servants, and writers, participated in the activity.

Administrative Coordinator of Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province Muhammad Erwin Darma, M.Pd. officially opened the event. Erwin explained that UKBI was a tool to measure a person’s Indonesian language proficiency, either national or international, especially for BIPA students. Trial are needed especially for standardized tests such as UKBI. As a modern language test, UKBI needed to meet the trial requirement. The results of trial are expected to be a guide in determining the appropriate and standardize test items for the next UKBI test items.

According to Coordinator of Expert and Professional Group (KKLP) UKBI at Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province Nur Bety, she stated that various professions involved in this trial to recieve input toward test items that had been compiled and standardized in the 2022 UKBI Standardized Session. Besides, it aimed to empirically test the items prior to enter into the UKBI items data bank and ready to use for UKBI Adaptif Merdeka test. In the two-day trial of UKBI tes items, four packages were tested, each package consist of listening, grammar respond, and reading section. The trial for UKBI Adaptif Merdeka Test Items was carried out simultaneously in 30 Regional Agencies/Regional Offices throughout Indonesia from 10 to 16 August 2022 for 554 participants.
