The Indonesian youths have pledged to uphold the Indonesian language. The youths’ spirit and love of Indonesian language was stated in the Youth Pledge on October 28th, 1928. Furthermore, those spirit and love for the Indonesian language must be passed down to the younger generation.
Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province attempts to maintain and disseminate the spirit and love to uphold the Indonesian language toward the young generation. Organizing the Language Ambassador Election for East Kalimantan Provonce and North Kalimantan Province in 2021 is one of the efforts. The election starts from the provincial level to the national level.
The nominees are assessed on their Indonesian language proficiency, national insight, and ethical aspects during the process. Some criteria that must be possessed by the nominees are capable to use the proper and correct Indonesian language, capable to use an indigenous language in East Kalimantan Province or North Kalimantan Province, and able to speak a foreign language. In addition, the nominees must have a skill to perform the indigenous arts of East Kalimantan Province or North Kalimantan Province.
The selected Language Ambassador will contribute as a partners of Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province. Besides, they will execute language and literature programs for the young generation in East Kalimantan Province and North Kalimantan Province.
