Tanjung Selor, 9 June 2023 — From 6 to 9 June 2023, the Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province implemented a Competency Improvement of Bulungan Language and Literature Teachers. It took place in the Grand Ballroom, Tanjung Selor, Bulungan. It invited 90 participants comprising teachers of elementary and junior high school and local language activists, such as Bulungan traditional institutions and language communities from Bulungan Regency and Tarakan City. It was a continuation activity of the previous coordination meeting and focus group discussion of Regional Language Revitalisation that was virtually conducted on 11 and 12 May 2023 in North Kalimantan Province.
Drs. Teguh Henri Susanto, M.Pd. the Head of the Agency of Education of North Kalimantan Province opened the event. In his remarks, he hoped that there would be other language revitalization activities in North Kalimantan besides the Bulungan language. Meanwhile, Drs Suparmin Setto, Head of the Agency of Education of Bulungan Regency tried to accelerate and synergize the compiling of local language content and Bulungan language revitalization.
The mentors presented some materials, such as Ida Ayu Parlina, S.A.P., M.A.P. (pantun and poetry), Kamsah, M.Pd. (writing short story and speech), Datu Isa Ansari, S.Pd. (storytelling), Muhammad Saleh (traditional song), and Marzali (stand-up comedy). In addition, they acted on some models of teaching materials. It would become a guide in disseminating the Bulungan Language Revitalization program to peers and the children in schools and communities in their respective regions. It is hoped that competency improvement for primary teachers of Bulungan language and literature will be achieved. In the end, participants committed that they will disseminate or mentor 360 people with details of each participant trains 4 people. (am)
