Representing the team, Ali Kusno, expressed his gratitude and explained that from 2022 to 2024 the Language Office has provided guidance to institutions in East and North Kalimantan to prioritize the state language in public spaces and institutional documents. Specifically, to adjust Permendagri Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Official Letter within the Regional Government and the use of  Indonesian language rules.

In the discussion, the team delivered corrections and suggestions to the regulation draft. It is mostly related to the adjustment of Indonesian language rules. Further discussions will be held to improve the draft of the governor’s regulation.

It is expected to produce official letters which are in accordance with applicable Indonesian language rules. In addition, institutional documents made by agencies and institutions under the Government of East Kalimantan Province are expected in accordance with the rules of Indonesian language use.

The Language Office also offers assistance in the preparation of regent/mayor regulations on official letters to region or city governments. Also, the Language Office has coordinated with the Government of North Kalimantan Province for similar activities. (ak)
