Samarinda, July 8, 2026 — The Regional Language Center in East Kalimantan has launched LENTERA (Integrated Language Services for Education, Responsiveness, and Accessibility), an innovative new public service program. The official launch took place on Tuesday, July 7, led by the Acting Head of Center for Language and Literature Cultivation, Hidayat Widiyanto, S.S., M.Pd., alongside the Head of Regional Language Center in East Kalimantan, Asep Juanda, S.Ag., M.Hum.
The introduction of LENTERA underscores the agency’s commitment to providing inclusive, responsive, and adaptive language services. The program is designed to cater to all segments of society across both East and North Kalimantan.
Transcending Geographical Boundaries
Head of the Regional Language Center in East Kalimantan, Asep Juanda, explained that LENTERA was created to overcome the geographical challenges posed by the vast distances across the region (Bumi Etam). Besides, it navigated human resource and budgetary constraints.
“LENTERA is a manifestation of the Regional Language Center in East Kalimantan’s unwavering commitment. We refuse to let distance and resource limitations become barriers,” Juanda stated. “Through this integrated system, we can deliver the highest standard of service to the community, encompassing educational support, rapid response, and forensic linguistics assistance.”
Tangible Action to Address Community Issues
The convening of the 13th Discussion Forum Series marked the first practical implementation of the LENTERA initiative. Titled “Integrating Legal Literacy in Schools: Efforts to Prevent Sexual Violence Against Children,” the forum demonstrated that the Regional Language Center in East Kalimantan is no longer confined to the ivory tower of theoretical linguistics. Instead, the agency is proactively engaging in solutions to complex community issues.
Reiterating the Language Center’s concrete role, Juanda emphasized that the agency is actively responding to crucial social matters. A primary focus of this initiative is mobilizing efforts to prevent sexual violence against children in schools. This proactive step is expected to foster a mature, integrated child protection ecosystem throughout East Kalimantan. (ak)
