Tanah Grogot, August 3, 2026 — The monitoring team from the Regional Language Center in East Kalimantan conducted a monitoring and evaluation visit for the Paser Language Revitalization Program in Tanah Grogot District, Paser Regency, on July 29–30, 2026. Three locations were visited, namely SDN 004 Tanah Grogot, SDN 014 Tanah Grogot, and SMPN 11 Tanah Grogot.
At SDN 004 Tanah Grogot, the team was welcomed by Injiyah (Principal), Leni Hartati (lead teacher), and Ahmad Fahrizal (coaching teacher). According to Injiyah, the school has incorporated Paser language as a local content subject for its students. In preparation for the FTBI selection, Leni, assisted by Rizal, has been coaching students in Paser language storytelling and poetry. Since 2023, SDN 004 Tanah Grogot has actively participated in the Regional Language Revitalization program and has sent representatives to the provincial level.
The team then proceeded to SDN 014 Tanah Grogot, where they were received by Suhartiwi (Acting Principal), Herlina (lead teacher), and other coaching teachers. At this school, the team observed FTBI preparations, during which students performed Paser language storytelling and speech delivery. Like SDN 004, SDN 014 Tanah Grogot has implemented Paser language as a local content subject. The school has also participated in the Regional Language Revitalization program since 2023 and has taken part in the provincial FTBI.
The final monitoring point was SMPN 11 Tanah Grogot, located across the Kandilo River. Despite the school being situated in a predominantly Javanese and Bugis neighborhood, lead teacher Mardiana remains committed to instilling the Paser language in her colleagues and students. During the visit, the monitoring team also observed the outcomes of Paser language instruction at the school.
Overall, the promotion of the Paser language in Tanah Grogot District, Paser Regency, has been progressing well. It is demonstrated by the implementation of Paser language as a local content subject in both elementary and junior high schools. (am)
