Kutai Kartanegara, July 28, 2026 — The Regional Language Corpus Data Collection Team for the Kutai language, under the Regional Language Center in East Kalimantan, conducted a field data collection in Kutai Kartanegara from July 21 to 23, 2026. The initiative was executed by the Working Group for the Preservation of Language and Literature, comprising Yudianti Herawati, S.S., M.A., Nurul Masfufah, M.Pd., and Aquari Mustikawati, S.S., in collaboration with the Working Group for the Development of Language and Literature, represented by Suindah Sari, S.S. The activities were centered in Tenggarong, Loa Ipuh, and Loa Kulu.
This initiative aims to gather Kutai language data and systematically organize it into a comprehensive digital database. The collected written materials include folk tales, short stories, poems, speeches, and texts from Kutai local content textbooks. Moving forward, this endeavor marks the foundational step in enriching the Kutai language corpus, which will ultimately serve as a robust lexical repository for the language.
To gather these materials, the team collaborated with several contributors, including Awang Rifani, S.Sos., M.Si. (Education and Culture Office of Kutai Kartanegara Regency), Isnaini Fidhiatul Ulla, M.Pd. (SMPN 10 Loa Kulu), Alma Shoril Thoha Mahmudah, M.Pd. (Kutai Oral Arts Community, SMPN 1 Tenggarong), Lena Marlina, S.Pd. (SDN 009 Tenggarong), and Ismi Nur Aini, M.Pd. (SMPN 1 Tenggarong), who provided various Kutai texts for corpus inclusion. Furthermore, the team visited a school in Loa Kulu where students are actively writing in the Kutai language. To further supplement the data, the team also conducted archival visits to the Regional Library of Kutai Kartanegara Regency and the Museum of Mulawarman in Tenggarong. With the active participation and support of Kutai language writers and contributors, the team is optimistic that this corpus data collection will achieve its objectives. (am)
