Samarinda, 21 June 2022 — The State Language Prioritization Activity for East Kalimantan and North Kalimantan Province was held by Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province (KBPKT) in April 2022. As the result, Department of Youth, Sports, and Tourism (Disporapar) of Samarinda City invited the Head of KBPKT and two staff as speakers in the Workshop on Prioritizing the State Language for Tourism and Creative Economy Business Actors. They were Halimi Hadibrata, M.Pd., Nur Bety, S.Pd., and Ali Kusno, S.Pd. It was officially opened by the Assistant of Government of Samarinda City, Ir. Heri Suriansyah. Hotel managers, tourism and creative economy sector actors, Groups of Tourism Awareness (Pokdarwis), and Tourism Ambassadors of Samarinda City involved as participants. It took place at Banana Cafe, Jalan Teuku Umar 6. Participants and speakers did question and answer enthusiastically at that moment.

The Head conveyed the institution’s policy on Prioritizing the State Language in the Public Space. Furthermore, Ali Kusno presented the topic of the State Language Prioritization for Tourism and Creative Economy Business Actors in Samarinda City.

After the presentations, business actors of tourism and creative economy realized the important role of language, both Indonesian and indigenous language, in supporting the development of tourism and the creative economy. In addition, they understood the need to empower indigenous languages ​​in East Kalimantan to provide the identity and value-added in the tourism sector of Samarinda City.

They hoped more specific materials related to the needs for tourism and creative economy bussines actors association in the next meeting. Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province and Department of Youth, Sports, and Tourism (Disporapar) of Samarinda City welcomed to the participants proposal by scheduling upcoming activities.
