Experts Coordination Meeting on Indigenous Language Revitalization is a series of Indigenous Language Revitalization (RBD) activities. It is an effort to increase the indigenous languages vitality, including Kutai, Kenyah, and Paser languages, ​​in 2022. Besides, it intended to develop and protect the languages ​​as well as cultivate the language speakers. Hopefully, this activity have a great impact toward indigenous languages protection, development, and  ​​preserve.

The event was held on 29 June 2022 at 07.30 until 17.30. It was officially opened by the Head of Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province, Halimi Hadibrata, M.Pd.  The keynote speaker came from Center for Development and Preservation of Language and Literature, Agency for Language Development and Cultivation, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Dwi Agus Erinita, M. Hum.

The Expert Coordination Meeting aimed to provide information, an overview of RBD activities, and to prepare the materials for RBD activities in the regions. The Experts Coordination Meeting on Indigenous Language Revitalization took place at Sapphire Room, Mercure Hotel, Samarinda.

Nine indgenous language mentors were involved in this activity. They are Awang M. Rifani, Abd. Rahman. Z., and Isnaini F. Ulla (Kutai language), Ajang Kedung, Martinus Usat, and Nuh Lenjau (Kenyah language), and Rusnawati, Aji Jamil, and Aji Lukman Panji (Paser language). The keynote speaker and mentors discussed some materials, such as (1) indigenous languages revitalization, (2) the best practices preparation for revitalizing the indigenous languages, and (3) discussion and deliberate the materials. Practically, the mentors will engage the teachers to practice poetry and storytelling material for elementary school students and poetry and speech material for junior high school students within indigenous languages ​​on July—September. Furthermore, coordination meeting with regional government will be carried out on 30 June 2022. (ems/med)
