30 Juni 2021 — Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province continues to strive to realize the implementation of public services in accordance with the principles of good governance. To realize excellent service to users, especially services in the field of language and literature, Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province on Tuesday, 29 June 2021 at the Kotabangun Room, Selyca Mulia Hotel, Samarinda, held a Focus Group Discussion: Service Standards at Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province.
The discussion was opened by the Head of Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province. The discussion was attended by the drafting team of service standards and the community who use the services of Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province. The service users participated in the discussion of the service standard draft include the Ombudsman Representative of East Kalimantan Province, High Prosecutor Office of East Kalimantan, Police Resort of Samarinda City, Immigration Office of Samarinda, Department of Education and Culture of Samarinda, Department of Education and Culture of East Kalimantan Province, Department of Culture Service of Samarinda, Kutai Kartanegara University, Widya Gama Mahakam Samarinda University, Department of Manpower and Transmigration of Samarinda, and Kaltim Post.
Several service standards for the community at Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province were discussed. They were Test of Indonesian Language Proficiency (UKBI), Language Expert Services, Indonesian Language for Foreign Speaker (BIPA), and Translation services.
Anang Santosa, Head of Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province, said that after receiving some input from the service users, the report of service standards agreement will be signed by Head of Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province and the service user.
“At the end, the draft of service standards will be determined through a Decree of Head of Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province and be published to the public,” said Anang.
In the first section, Head of Ombudsman Representative of East Kalimantan Province conveyed the understanding of service standards and the principles of service standards. Furthermore, the technical staff of Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province led the discussion, namely Yudianti Herawati, Nurul Masfufah, Erwin Darma, and Evi Melila Sari.
During the discussion, one of UKBI service users, Srikandini from Kutai Kertanegara University, suggested that UKBI PNBP fee of one million rupiah for foreign citizens who are students to be categorized as student fees. This is supported by the explanation and experience of the Head of Ombudsman Representative of East Kalimantan province when he was a student abroad.
In addition, during a discussion about BIPA services, the university suggested that the Regional Office for Language holding hands with campuses in implementing BIPA services. In another side, Police hoped that Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province will provide support and assistance regarding to requests for linguists and expert notes on cases which were handled by the police, especially defamation and hate speech.
Related to translation services, Police hoped that the cost of interpreter services would be increased for the level of difficulty reason of translation in certain fields was very difficult. The university also hoped that they can be involved to help in translation services at Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province.
The discussion ran smoothly and effectively. At the end of the event, the Head of Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province and the participants signed the report of agreement on service standards in Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province.
