Loa Kulu, 18 August 2023 — The Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province conducted monitoring and evaluation activities of the implementation of Kenyah Language Revitalization in Lung Anai, Loa Kulu, Kutai Kartanegara Regency on 18 August 2023. It aimed to find out the progress and the preparation of teachers/trainers in training the elementary and junior high school students to participate in the FTBI.
The monitoring took place at Lung Anai Village, a Dayak Kenyah traditional village where located in Loa Kulu, Kutai Kartanegara Regency. It was attended by 110 people, such as the Chief of Lung Anai Village, the main teacher, teacher/trainers, traditional leaders, Lung Anai residents, and children as the target of the monitoring. On that occasion, the Chief of Lung Anai Village and Kenyah Traditional Leaders expressed their support and appreciation to the Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province in implementing the Regional Language Preservation program.
Furthermore, the 17 selected children tried to perform their talents in poetry, speech, and storytelling in the Kenyah language at Lamin Adat Lung Anai. They were eager to show their talents although they were still not perfect and needed to be improved again, especially their expression and appreciation. Also, the residents felt happy and proud of the children who were able and willing to preserve the Kenyah language, which is currently experiencing a decline. Hopefully, with this activity, the Kenyah language will survive in the midst of globalization. (nm)
