August 29, 2021 — Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province held a Commission Session of the Indigenous Language for Tunjung and Kenyah on August 28–29, 2021. It is conducted at the Mercure Hotel Samarinda. 20 participants who were composed of the Office staff and East Kalimantan and North Kalimantan Language Ambassadors’ representatives are involved. Limited participants and stricted health protocols are implemented in the event.
Head of Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province, Drs. Anang Santosa, M. Hum., officially opened Commission Session of the Indigenous Language for Tunjung and Kenyah. In his remarks, the commission session is aimed to recheck and examine the indigenous language vocabulary that has been collected before proposes it into Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia (KBBI). Thus, it is also expected to increase participants’ knowledge in how nominating indigenous language vocabulary for enriching Indonesian vocabulary.
The commission session presented two speakers, namely Dewi Khairiah, M.Hum. and Dzien Nuen Almisri, S. Hum., from the Center for Development and Preservation of Language and Literature, Agency for Language Development and Cultivation. Those speakers conveyed an overview on how to enrich Indonesian vocabulary from local languages and helped to check and revise the indigenous language vocabulary data that was previously collected and discussed in the Workshop on Inventory Results of Indigenous Language Vocabulary in East Kalimantan Province.
Commission Session of the Indigenous Language for Tunjung and Kenyah is a series activity from the Workshop on Inventory Results of Indigenous Language Vocabulary in East Kalimantan Province previously. It is one of the Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province programs to develop language by proposing indigenous language vocabularies to increase the express ability of the Indonesian language.
