Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province held a Dissemination of Language Data Inventory Results in Legal Documents in three places on September 23, 2021, namely Balikpapan, Bontang, and East Kutai Regency. This activity conducted based on the 1945 Constitution Article 36 “the State Language is Indonesian”, Law Number 24 of 2009 concerning State Flag, Language and Emblem, as well as the National Anthem, and Presidential Regulation Number 63 of 2019 on the Use of Indonesian Language. The dissemination aimed to (1) supervise and control the use of language in legal products, (2) develop language cultivation materials for legal products, (3) socialize the use of language in legal products, and (4) evaluate the use of language in legal products.
In Balikpapan, it was held at Four Point Hotel Balikpapan. 22 participants who came from agencies and professions that issued legal products are involved , namely Balikpapan Military Court, Balikpapan District Court, Balikpapan Religious Court, Balikpapan District Attorney, Pomdam VI/Mlw Balikpapan, Kumdam VI/Mlw Balikpapan, Military Oditurat IV-16 Balikpapan, Regional Police of East Kalimantan, District Police of Balikpapan City, District Police of West Balikpapan, District Police of South Balikpapan, District Police of North Balikpapan, General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) in Balikpapan, and members of Peradi DPC Balikpapan. As speakers, Ali Kusno and Diyan Kurniawati.
In Bontang, the dissemination was held at Tiara Surya Hotel. The activity was attended by 10 agencies, namely Education and Culture Office of Bontang, Regional House of Representatives of Bontang, North Bontang District, Bontang District Attorney, Bontang Religious Court, Regional General Elections Commision of Bontang, Bontang Notary, Indonesian Advocate Association (Peradi) of Bontang, and District Police of South Bontang. The speakers for this activity were Nur Bety and Aquari Mustikawati.
In East Kutai Regency, it was carried out at Hotel Q. The participants were General Election Supervisory Agency of East Kutai, East Kutai District Attorney, Sangatta Religious Court, Sangatta District Court, District of North Sangatta, District of South Sangatta, Singa Geweh Village, Village Office of North Sangatta, and Village Office of South Sangatta. The presenter were Yudianti Herawati and Evi Melila Sari.
All presenters conveyed the use of language in legal procucts and results of legal language data inventory to the agencies that attended in the activity. Participants listened to the presentations that delivered by the speakers enthusiastically. Also, they involved in interesting discussion sections. Participants asked about the use of language in legal products accordance with the Indonesian language grammar. In addition, participants hoped further activities can be carried out according to the needs and characteristics of the legal language which is used by agencies and professions.
Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province accepted this by planning further coordination to synergy and cooperate to realize the commitment in structuring the Indonesian language in legal products. Furthermore, Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province provided consultation services for agencies and professions related to language and law in East Kalimantan Province. Finally, we hoped that the use of language in legal products will obey the Indonesian language rules with the result that public readability level of legal products will increase. Enhancement of public readability towards legal products will, indirectly, work up public compliance with applicable laws.
