The expert team and professional service of Lexicography and Terminology and other technical staff of Regional Office for Language in East Kalomantan Province collected Bulungan and Tidung vocabularies in Tarakan City on 15 to 17 February 2022. It involved five informants who are native speakers of Bulungan and Tidung indigenous languages. Two of them are Datu Dissan Maulana and Datu Norbeck. Datu Dissan Maulana, as Bulungan language informant, is the Viceroy of Bulungan Sultanate and also the General Chairman of the Bulungan Family Association in Tarakan City. For Tidung language informant, team invited Datu Norbeck, head of the Traditional Culture Studio “Paguntaka”.
The team collected Bulungan and Tidung vocabularies that related to customs, traditional clothes, traditional houses, folk festivals, and traditional foods. In addition, vocabularies related to endemic flora and fauna in North Kalimantan were also be gathered. Besides, the team equipped those interview data with printed materials collected from the library in Tarakan.
The vocabulary collected result will be proposed into the KBBI. It aimed to be a part of the Indonesian language. For that goal, the data will be discussed in workshops and commission meeting of regional language. Those are yearly routine activities of Regional Office For Language in East Kalimantan Province in developing language and literature task.
