Sangatta, August 23, 2024 — The Monitoring Team of the Regional Office for Language in East Kalimantan Province went to East Kutai Regency on August 20-23, 2024 to monitor and evaluate the Kutai Malay and Kenyah language revitalization activity. As a part of the Merdeka Belajar Program Episode 17, it aimed to preserve the regional languages, including Kutai Malay and Kenyah in East Kalimantan.
Furthermore, it adresed to monitor and evaluate the mentors and teachers effort when they revitalize the Kutai Malay and Kenyah language. Besides, to know the students’ readines to participate in FTBI. The monitoring and evaluation activity took place at SD Negeri 002 Sangatta Utara, SMP Negeri 6 Sangatta Utara, and SMP Negeri 1 Sangatta Selatan.
Imron, the Division Head of Curriculum in Elementary Education, the Agency of Education and Culture of East Kutai Regency, the Head of SD Negeri 002 Sangatta Utara, SMPN 6 Sangatta Utara, and SMPN 1 Sangatta Selatan, as well as the mentors attended the event.
Imron wellcame and suported the revitalization event. He stated that the Agency has tried to synergy and facilitate the regional language revitalization activities and local content program in East Kutai Regency.
In that particullar time, several performances in Kutai Malay and Kenyah, such as poetry, fairy tales, speeches, single comedy, and sing a local songs were presented by selected students. It showed that mentors and teachers have well implemented to revitalize the language. Training and learning regional languages for students has also begun to be carried out.
Currently, mentors and teachers are preparing the talented students who mastering the regional language to participate the selection section at the school level and FTBI 2024. (nm)
