Nusantara, February 27, 2026 — The Regional Agency for Language in East Kalimantan Province (Language Agency) launched a two-day coordination meeting, February 23–24, in the Central Government Core Area (KIPP). It officially opened by Suwito, Director of Basic Services for the IKN Authority.

Suwito opened the event by urging participating institutions to collaborate closely with the Language Agency. “This is a strategic effort to make language prioritization in IKN a benchmark for the nation,” he said. Ten schools in Indonesia’s new capital city have been selected as pilot institutions for a national initiative to prioritize the use of Indonesian in education and official settings. The effort aligns with Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Regulation No. 2 of 2025, which mandates proper Indonesian usage in formal contexts.

The meeting served as a forum for educators and language officials. They contrived to identify barriers to effective Indonesian usage and develop practical solutions.

Follow-up site visits allowed teams to work directly with school leaders on immediate implementation steps. Selected institutions as followed. SDN 020 Sepaku, SDN 014 Sepaku, SDN 004 Sepaku, SDN 017 Sepaku, SMP Muhammadiyah 1 PPU, SMP IT Maarif Sepaku, SMPN 27 PPU, SMPN 2 PPU, SMKN 1 PPU, and SMAN 3 PPU.

Three speakers who involved in this event, namely Nur Bety, Abd. Rahman, and Ali Kusno. They will support the schools through inventory assessments, mentoring, and evaluation. As result, IKN becomes a center of civilization that upholds national identity through the Indonesian language.

With this understanding, the goal,  the Language Agency hopes, is to embed Indonesian language use as a cultural practice, not just a compliance requirement. If successful, the initiative could set a replicable standard for schools nationwide as Indonesia builds its new administrative capital. Confirming IKN’s identity as a symbol of progress rooted in national values. (ak)
