Barong Tongkok, April 21, 2026 — The Regional Language Center in East Kalimantan conducted a Workshop on Writing Bilingual Children’s Picturebook (Benuaq–Indonesia) in West Kutai Regency on 17–19 April 2026 at the Sidodadi Hotel in Barong Tongkok, West Kutai. The event is officially opened by Bernadeth Gita, S.Pd., M.Pd., a Junior High School Supervisor of the Agency of Education and Culture of West Kutai. The workshop is attended by 20 selected writers who had passed a prior selection process organized by the Regional Language Center in East Kalimantan
The event featured four resource persons, such as Emanuel (Cultural Advisor), Yamin (Chairman of the Benuaq Customary Institution), Dwi Rahmawati (children’s book author), and Nur Bety, M.Pd. (Junior Expert Widyabasa/Language Development Specialist at the Regional Language Center in East Kalimantan). They delivered presentations on key topics, including Language and Literature Policy, Policy on Translating Children’s Storybooks, Writing Children’s Stories in Regional Languages, as well as Graphic Design and Illustration Techniques for Children’s Books.
On the final day, participants engaged in hands-on writing practice and received technical mentoring, evaluation, and constructive feedback. This process ensured that the children’s stories produced aligned with the technical guidelines issued by the Center for Language and Literature Empowerment, under the Agency for Language Development and Cultivation of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.
